The international photographic experience with Monuments
It is essential that young people are made increasingly aware of the importance of preserving the heritage of their city. The better they know their heritage, the easier it becomes for them to appropriate it and thus find their place at the heart of our multicultural metropolis.
This is why the Brussels-Capital Region has been participating in the International Photographic Experience with Monuments since 1998, a project launched in Catalonia in 1992 as part of the European Heritage Days.
This competition is aimed at all schools in Brussels and is open to all their sections. Once again this year, the initiative attracted a great deal of interest from teachers and educational circles. More than 800 pupils took part in the competition! This gave them the opportunity to approach their city's heritage in a different way. Through the lens of their camera, they discovered elements to which they would otherwise probably not pay attention in everyday life.
