A Renaissance Banquet
Temporary exhibition
>
The Renaissance banquet was a display of power, a political statement. It was a showpiece, a parade; one dined, of course, but it was not just that. During the Renaissance, the art of dining took a new turn and spectacular preparations are reflected in sumptuous feasts to rival the surroundings and impress the guests. This exhibition is located in the heart of the archaeological remains of the Coudenberg Palace, in the kitchen of the Aula Magna, the ceremonial great hall of the palace. Visitors are also invited to discover the customs, etiquette and culinary practices of the Court in the museum rooms in Hoogstraeten House.
A Gy Seray Boussu initiative.
