Coudenberg Sound Box Fest 2023 - FIRE 17/12
Coudenberg Sound Box Fest
Underground festival at the heart of Europe
Every Sunday from 26th November to 17th December: double concerts + visit the archeological site of the Coudenberg Palace.
Much more than a classical music festival, Coudenberg Sound Box Fest aims to reconnect its audience with Belgium's archaeological, historical and artistic heritage by bringing the remains of the Coudenberg Palace into dialogue with the eclecticism and the dynamism of its present.
From early music dating back to the 14th century, through baroque, jazz, folk and electronic music, to contemporary compositions, the subtle and invisible links between these different styles will be revealed by internationally renowned musicians from the City of Brussels and Belgium.
Music in its four elements: in search of its hidden roots
Sunday 17/12/23 – 18:30 (Doors: 18:00 - end foreseen around 21:00)
FIRE: BETWEEN BAROQUE AND MARTIAL DANCES
La Cetra (Guillaume Houcke - countertenor, Michel Keustermans - recorder, Justin Glaie - theorbo/guitar, Henriette Urban - baroque harp)
La Cetra d'Orfeo's original concerts are meticulously constructed as a journey in which the listener feels guided both emotionally and spiritually towards one or more focal points. "C'est pour vous Belle Dame" is a programme of arias and dances dedicated to the Infanta Isabella, wife of Albert of Austria, who lived at the Coudenberg Palace in the early 17th century. This programme aims to bring back the music of the period with works by E. Adriaenssens, C. Negri, P. Philips, R. de Lassus, G. de Wert, T. Susato, P. Phalèse, G. P. Foscarini.
Tsubasa Hori (Japanese percussion)
Abandon yourself to the vital force that breathes in the darkness of the Coudenberg Palace and seek out the sounds between the memories of reminiscences and the future implied in the flickering lights. Tsubasa Hori, an electrifying percussion virtuoso, wants to show her audience how her Taiko drums, brought from Japan, can exploit the unique and generous acoustics of Coudenberg Palace.
