Webinar 3: Digital technology and lost heritage through the eyes of archaeologists and museologists
Digital enhancement of lost architectural heritage. Exchange between Quebec, Wallonia and Brussels 2026
Date: 12 February 2026
The archaeologist's approach, which consists of analysing and interpreting archaeological remains to produce reliable reference documents, is an essential step in the transmission of historical heritage. This research then serves as a basis for cultural institutions to design exhibitions, publications and educational projects. What are the synergies between archaeological research and digital mediation projects? What methods underpin the transposition of scientific data into accessible and educational experiences? How can digital technology complement traditional heritage interpretation work?
This third webinar explores how this research can be transformed into immersive digital experiences, enabling the public to discover and understand local history in an interactive and fun way. The design of the game Souvenance, based on the virtual reconstruction of the village of Sainte-Blandine (Bas-Saint-Laurent, Quebec), and the 3D digitisation of Chimay Castle (Chimay, Belgium) using archaeological, iconographic and documentary data, are projects that illustrate these issues in concrete terms.
Webinar: Digital technology and lost heritage through the eyes of archaeologists and museologists (in French only)
Date: 12 February, from 10am to 11am (Quebec time) or from 4pm to 5pm (Belgium time), online.
To address these issues, we will draw on the expertise of specialists from Quebec and Belgium.
